Recipe Batch Scaler

Paste the ingredient list, say what the recipe serves and what you need it to serve, and every quantity is rescaled by the ratio with its unit intact. It understands `250 g`, `2 cups`, `1/2 tsp` and mixed numbers like `1 1/2`, rounds to something you can actually measure, and passes lines with no number — 'pinch of pepper', 'salt to taste' — straight through unchanged.

Worked example

375 g flour 3 cups milk 3/4 tsp salt 2 1/4 tbsp sugar pinch of pepper Scaled from 4 to 6 serving(s) — every quantity × 1.5. 4 line(s) rescaled, 1 passed through unchanged. Quantities only. Cooking time, pan size and leavening do not scale linearly — check those yourself before you bake it.

Inputs

Frequently asked

Does it adjust cooking time or oven temperature?

No, and that is the honest limitation worth reading. Time, pan size and leavening do not scale linearly: a doubled cake in the same tin is a different bake, and doubled baking powder is a common way to ruin one. Scale the quantities here, then think about the tin and the timer yourself.

What number formats work?

Whole numbers, decimals, fractions like `1/2` or `3/4`, and mixed numbers like `1 1/2`. The result is rounded to at most two decimals and rendered as a common fraction where it lands near one, so you get `3/4 tsp` rather than `0.75 tsp`.

What about lines with no quantity?

They pass through exactly as typed. Headings, notes and 'to taste' lines survive the scaling untouched.

Is there a limit?

Servings are clamped to 1–500 at each end, so a mistyped serving count cannot produce an absurd ratio.
