CSV Query

Paste a CSV and pull out what you need: choose columns, filter with a condition, sort, and cap the row count. It runs in your browser, so the data never leaves your device — which matters when the file is a customer export or a payroll extract.

Frequently asked

Is this SQL?

No, and it does not pretend to be. It supports one WHERE condition and one ORDER BY — enough for the filtering people actually paste a CSV to do. Joins and subqueries are not supported.

Can I use AND or OR?

No — one condition only. If you write one anyway the whole condition is ignored and you are told so above the results, because a half-applied filter that looks like it worked is the dangerous outcome. Run the first condition, copy the result, and query that for the second.

What operators work?

=, !=, >, <, >=, <= and contains. Numbers compare as numbers; text compares as text. Currency symbols and thousands separators in your data are handled.

What happens to blank or non-numeric cells in a numeric filter?

They are left out and counted for you above the results. A cell reading 'n/a' is neither above nor below 100, and letting it string-compare its way into a column you are about to total would be a wrong answer that looks right.

What if I typo a column name?

You get all the rows back rather than none, with a warning naming the columns that do exist. An empty result you might mistake for 'no matches' is the worse failure.
