Why does it ask about independence?
Because funders and auditors ask, and it is easier to record as you go than to reconstruct. What counts as independent is defined by your policy and by whoever is asking.
Does it tell me how many directors I need?
No. Minimum board size, term limits and quorum thresholds come from your bylaws and your jurisdiction. The form has fields for them so the answer lives beside the roster.
