What is the average-end-area method?
Volume = ((Area A + Area B) ÷ 2) × distance. It's the standard quick method for earthwork between two measured cross-sections.
Why loose vs bank yards?
Excavated soil bulks up ('swell'), so you haul more loose volume than the in-ground (bank) volume. The swell % converts bank yards to loose yards.
